What Sets The Price

The Windsor dumpster rental price is weight, not just size

Two bins of the same size can cost very different amounts, and the reason is almost always the scale ticket. Every rental includes a tonnage allowance, and what you load past that allowance is billed by weight at the transfer station rate.

The numbers are not a secret. A 10 yard bin here carries about 1.5 tonnes, a 20 yard about 2 tonnes, and past the allowance the rate is $120 a tonne. That is why a bin of drywall and a bin of brick, both filled to the same line, arrive at different bills.

Which is also why we ask what you are throwing out before we quote. A clean fill load goes in a smaller bin on purpose, a roofing tear-off is priced by bundles, and the weight limits page shows the allowance for every size we run.

How A Rental Runs

Four steps, and the price is fixed at step one

  1. Tell us the job and the driveway

What you are clearing, the address, and where the bin should sit. That is enough to price it.

  2. We drop the bin

Next day on most bookings. Boards go down first on any driveway, asphalt included.

  3. You load it to the fill line

Level with the top rail, nothing above it. The driver cannot legally haul a heaped bin.

  4. We haul it and weigh it

You get the scale ticket. Under the allowance there is nothing more to pay.

What Goes In

Most things, and a short list of prohibited items

Renovation debris, furniture, flooring, drywall, lumber, roofing, yard waste and general household clutter all go in a standard bin. So do appliances, as long as anything holding refrigerant has been drained and tagged first.

The refusals are short and they are the same at every transfer station: paint and solvents, fuels and oils, tires, batteries, propane tanks, sealed hot water tanks and asbestos. A tire is refused because landfills will not take it, a propane tank because a sealed vessel in a compactor is a hazard.

If a prohibited item turns up at the scale it is pulled and charged separately, so it is worth reading the prohibited items list before you load. The accepted materials page covers the rest, and junk removal handles the awkward items.

Straight Answers

Windsor dumpster rental questions, answered

A residential bin here runs from about $360 for a 10 yard to $650 for a 30 yard, and that price covers delivery, the rental period, the tonnage allowance and disposal. Past the allowance it is $120 a tonne. The prices page lists every size with what is included.
A 10 yard suits a single bathroom or a small roof repair, a 14 yard about half a single-car garage, a 20 yard a kitchen renovation or a 1,600 to 2,000 square foot roof, and a 30 yard a whole-house cleanout. If you are between two, see what size bin.
Seven days on the smaller sizes and ten on the larger ones, included in the price. Extra days are $10 to $25 depending on size, and you can book an extension by phone without moving the bin.
Not on your own driveway or private lot. On the street you do: in Windsor that is a street occupation permit from the city, and it can take several days, so tell us early. See permits and placement.
We lay boards under the wheels and rails on every driveway bin, and we ask about asphalt in hot weather because that is when it marks. Nothing is dragged on or off. More on driveway protection.

Asked what was going in before they quoted, which nobody else did. The bill at the end was the number on the email, and the scale ticket came with it.

Twenty yard for a shingle job. They told me to keep it level with the rail and why, and the driver put boards down without me having to ask.

Booked Tuesday, bin arrived Wednesday morning. We went over the tonnage by half a tonne and the extra was exactly the rate they had quoted.

Street permit took longer than I expected, though they warned me it would. Once it came through the swap-out was same day.
