Windsor bin rental guides: permits, sizing, delivery and fees
The seven things worth knowing before a bin arrives, from what size to take to which fees exist and how to avoid every one of them.
Where Money Goes
Every surprise on a bin rental invoice is one of four
Going over the tonnage allowance. Keeping the bin past the included days. A trip charge because the truck arrived and could not place or collect the bin. Or a prohibited item pulled at the scale and billed as a separate disposal.
All four are avoidable and all four are predictable, which is why they are written down here rather than discovered on the invoice. The commonest by a distance is weight, and it is almost always a load with concrete or soil mixed through it.
The trip charge is the one people find hardest to accept, so it is worth being plain: if a car is parked in front of the bin on collection day, or a gate is locked, the truck has made the journey for nothing. Avoiding extra fees lists each trigger, and delivery and pickup covers what has to be clear.
Getting It Right
Four things to settle before the bin is booked
-
Size it by material
Heavy loads take a small bin. Bulk takes a big one. The two rarely mix.
-
Sort the placement
Driveway needs no permit. Street does, and that takes days to arrange.
-
Clear the approach
Cars, gates, low branches and wires all stop a delivery cold.
-
Know the allowance
The tonnage and the overage rate should be on your quote before you book.
