Reno Debris Bins

Chatham renovation bin rental for renovation debris

Bins for drywall, flooring, cabinets, tile and framing, sized for what renovation debris weighs rather than how much space it takes.

  • 10 yd per bathroom
  • 20 yd per kitchen
  • Same-day swap-outs

Weight Not Volume

Renovation debris is sized by weight, not by room size

Old plaster and lath, ceramic tile and its mortar bed, and cabinet carcasses are dense. A stripped bathroom can put half a tonne into a bin that still looks nearly empty, which is why a small bin is the right answer for a small heavy job.

A kitchen or a whole floor is the reverse. Cabinets, doors, trim, drywall and framing are bulky and comparatively light, so the bin fills before the tonnage does and a 20 yard is the sensible size.

The mistake that costs money is mixing the two, or putting a floor of old tile into a general bin. Renovation debris covers the sizing and heavy debris the separate load.

How It Runs

Four steps around a live renovation here

  1. Name the rooms

And say whether old tile or plaster is coming out. That changes the size.

  2. Placed for the door

Close enough to carry to, far enough that the trades can still work.

  3. Heavy at the bottom

Tile and plaster spread across the floor, timber and cabinets on top.

  4. Swap when it fills

Same day in most cases, so the trades are not waiting on a bin.

Trade Waste

What a renovation puts in the bin, and what not

Drywall, timber, flooring, carpet, underlay, cabinets, doors, trim, insulation and ceiling tile all go in the same bin and cause no trouble at the transfer station.

Paint and solvent do not, and a renovation produces plenty of both. Nor do fluorescent tubes from an old ceiling grid, or any air conditioning unit still holding refrigerant.

On a pre-1990 building, old flooring adhesive, textured ceiling and pipe insulation raise the asbestos question, and asbestos is refused outright. Test before the strip-out rather than after. Prohibited items lists the refusals.

Straight Answers

Chatham bin rental questions

A 20 yard. Cabinets, countertops and drywall are bulky and light, so the bin fills before the tonnage does.
Yes, usually same day if you call before mid-morning. Renovations run long far more often than they run short.
Next day on most bookings, and same day where the route still has room, which is likelier on a morning call than an afternoon one.
No. There is no distance surcharge inside the areas we list. Location changes the delivery window rather than the bill.
Not on a driveway or private lot. On a street, lane or sidewalk you do, and that is issued by the municipality. See permits and placement.

Out this far and still the same flat rate. I had expected a travel charge.

Boards under the bin without being asked. The asphalt was unmarked when it left.
