The 40 yard is 20 ft long, 8 ft wide, 8 ft high, which works out to about 15 pickup loads of debris. The price includes 3 tonnes at the transfer station; past that it is $120 a tonne, billed off the scale ticket you receive with the invoice.
Ten days are included with a bin this size. Extra days cost $25 and are added over the phone. Finishing early costs nothing: call and the collection moves up.
This is the largest volume we run and the easiest one to overload. Concrete, soil and brick want a 10 yard or 14 yard at the inert rate; put them in here and the scale ticket arrives before the bin is full. The weight limits page explains it.

What Cannot Go In
The prohibited items list is short and it does not bend
A bin this size is filled by machine, which is exactly how a refused item ends up buried in the middle of it. Paint, solvent, fuel and oil, tires, batteries, propane and sealed hot water tanks, electronics, refrigerant-bearing plant, and any pre-1990 material that raises an asbestos question.
The constraint is the receiving facility. A landfill will not take a tire, a sealed vessel can rupture in a compactor, and refrigerant has to be drained and tagged by a certified technician before an appliance is scrapped.
At this volume a single refused item can hold up the whole load, and it is billed as a separate disposal on top. Brief whoever is loading against the prohibited items list before the machine starts, and keep what we take to hand for the rest.

No. Heavy material goes in a 6, 10 or 14 yard bin. In a bin this size it would pass the weight allowance well before the bin was full, and the overage would cost more than the right bin would have.
