A construction bin is chosen by weight, not volume
A framing crew and a concrete crew filling the same 20 yard bin will get very different invoices, and only one of them will be able to have it collected. Weight is what decides both, and heavy material reaches the allowance long before the bin looks full.
That is why clean fill goes in its own bin. Concrete, brick, soil and asphalt are loaded into a 6, 10 or 14 yard on their own, with nothing mixed through, because a mixed load cannot go to the inert facility and gets charged as general waste instead.
Everything else is bulk and takes the larger sizes: a roof tear-off, a fit-out strip, framing offcuts, packaging. Roofs are easiest to size by bundles, and roofing tear-off has those numbers. Heavy debris rules covers the rest of the rule.

You can, but it is charged as general waste rather than at the clean fill rate, and it usually costs more than taking two bins. Kept separate, inert material goes to a different facility at a lower rate.
A 10 yard takes about 140 bundles, a 14 yard about 180 and a 20 yard the shingles off a 1,600 to 2,000 square foot roof. Shingles are dense, so the bundle count matters more than the yard number.
