When It Comes
How delivery windows actually work
Next day on most bookings, and same day where the route still has room, which is far more likely on a morning call than an afternoon one. You get a morning or afternoon window rather than a wait-all-day promise.
You do not need to be there. Mark the spot with cones, a note or a photo sent by text, and the driver places it and sends a photo back. Most of our residential deliveries happen with nobody home.
Collection works the same way, on the date you booked or earlier if you call. The one thing that has to be true on collection day is that the truck can reach the bin. Avoiding extra fees covers what happens when it cannot. Bin rental guides covers the rest. There is more on bin rental prices.
Clearing The Way
Four things that stop a bin delivery
-
A car in the spot
The commonest one by far, and on collection day it means a wasted trip.
-
A locked gate
On a site or behind a fence, the driver needs a way in without waiting.
-
Low branches or wires
The bin lifts high off the truck. Overhead clearance matters as much as ground space.
-
Not enough length
A 40 yard needs 25 feet for the door. A tight spot means it goes back on the truck.
Collection Day
What has to be true before a bin can be collected
The truck has to be able to reach it, which means nothing parked in front and the approach clear. And the load has to be level with the top rail, because it must be tarped before it can be driven and a heaped bin cannot be tarped.
Those two are the whole list, and between them they account for nearly every failed collection. Both are avoidable the evening before with two minutes of checking.
If either one stops the collection, the truck has made the journey for nothing and a trip charge applies. It is the fee people find hardest to accept because nothing was taken away, which is exactly why it is written here. Weight limits covers the fill line. Bin rental guides sets out the detail.

Windsor delivery and pickup questions
Placed while I was at work and a photo came through. Exactly where I had marked it.
Morning window and it arrived in it. Called ahead as well, which nobody else does.
They warned me about the wires over my drive. Placed it further down instead.
Good service. My neighbour parked in front of it on collection day and it cost me a trip charge, fairly.
