The house has to be empty on a fixed day, and that date does not move. So the bin is booked to sit through the last week rather than the first, and collected the day before the keys change hands.
One 20 yard is enough for most moves. What gets left behind is predictable: the sofa that will not fit the new place, the mattress nobody wants, the shelving, the garage contents and half the basement.

Moving empties the places nobody looks in, so it surfaces the same refusals every time: paint left over from decorating, solvent from the garage, the barbecue propane tank, a spare set of tires, and half a can of mower fuel.
They cannot go in the bin, and a move is the worst time to discover that, because there is no house left to store them in. Set them aside as you pack rather than at the end, and plan one trip to a household hazardous waste depot.
