A framing crew and a concrete crew filling identical bins get very different invoices, and only one of them can have theirs collected. Heavy material reaches the tonnage long before the bin looks full, which is why it never goes in a large one.
Clean fill gets its own bin: concrete, brick, soil and asphalt loaded on their own, with nothing mixed through, at the inert rate. One bag of general rubbish redirects the whole load and it is charged as mixed waste instead.
Everything else is bulk and takes the larger sizes. Roofs are easiest to size by bundles. Construction bins covers the material streams and heavy debris the separation rule.

Site Refusals
What must come off a site before the bin is loaded
Anything pre-1990 raises the asbestos question, and asbestos is refused outright in a roll-off. It needs a licensed abatement contractor and its own disposal route, dealt with before demolition starts rather than discovered mid-job.
Then the usual site pulls: fluorescent tubes and ballasts, paint and solvent left in a basement, fuel and oil containers, and any air conditioning or refrigeration plant still holding refrigerant.
None of them can go in, and one found at the scale is billed as a separate disposal. Pull them at the start and the bin stays simple. Prohibited items has the list and demolition debris the mixed bin.
